DRAFT2DIGITAL DISTRBUTES WITH KOBO PLUS
Draft2Digital announced today its content partnership with Kobo Plus—a subscription service from Rakuten Kobo that connects readers in the Netherlands and Belgium with a growing selection of eBooks. The Kobo Plus Payout Model is based on the number of readers subscribing to and reading books through the service that gives authors an alternative book distribution channel.
What it means, in a nutshell, is that everyone—Kobo, Draft2Digital, and you, the author—benefits when readers are enticed into subscribing and discovering new authors. The more subscribers the service has, the more revenue there is to share.
Here are some opting in perks:
- Royalties—Royalties are based on the current Kobo Plus Payout, which increases as subscriptions rise. Your royalty share is based on a formula that takes into account the price of your book, the number of reads past 20%, and the current number of Kobo Plus subscribers. As a result, your royalties may vary from month to month.
- No exclusivity—While you’re enrolled in Kobo Plus, you can distribute your books to any other online bookseller that you wish. There’s no exclusivity requirement to be in the program.
- Reach an emerging market—The Dutch-speaking markets of the Netherlands and Belgium are brand new to the Kobo family. Opting in to Kobo Plus lets you reach these markets just as they’re discovering a world of new books!
If you are using D2D as a distribution platform of your books, you can opt in to Kobo Plus directly from the D2D dashboard.
